The reason this site exists

Migration cost is one of the most over-claimed and under-budgeted line items in enterprise IT. Vendor case studies show successful migrations at clean-line cost; reality includes the unforeseen integration scope, the data-quality clean-up, the parallel-running cost during cutover, the change-management training, and the headcount over-budget that almost every programme hits. Most top-ranking pages are written by SI partners pitching the engagement. This site exists to publish defensible migration cost bands by migration type with the assumption set behind each, plus a calculator that takes scope inputs and returns a working budget figure including realistic contingency.
